Get Your Spook On– It’s Halloween!

Halloween (noun): an annual festivity that occurs on the 31st of October, involving the soliciting of candy and/or other treats from belligerent residents— commonly celebrated by oversized children dressed in their most scandalous, dusty bottom drawer outfits. Halloween has never meant much to me. Growing up in Australia, the event was an excuse for the adults to get drunk and throw a BBQ (not unlike every other day of the year) and for children to raid their unknowing suburban neighbours of sweets and the occasional dollar bills. In the US, the 31st is taken a little more seriously. Or so I presume, having watched a number of spooky Disney films in my time (the poorly made Halloweentown would have to be my favourite.) A kind of bellicose competition is to be expected between best costume, most inventive house decoration, and sweetest teeth-rotting treats. At Green School, Halloween is mostly just a fun time to dress up. So instead of attempting to be anything remotely scary, I came as a very tasty bunch of balloons (and won the Cutest Award for that matter, so the awkward and claustrophobic discomfort was all worth it!*)

Grape-a-licious.

What a GRAPE costume! Ain’t it just diWINE?!

And of course the adorable classics (including an awesome Maleficient!
